The PLAN is an introductory version of the ACT.

Less complex and shorter than the ACT, but a great introduction to testing.

PLAN 1

Sections

English

50 questions - 30 mins

Most questions here will be about grammar, but some will be context based and about logic and syntax.

The best way to prepare for this section is to review grammar rules and build an understanding of the question types. Many don't pay attention to the context and struggle with the logic questions.

Math

40 questions - 40 mins

A combination of Algebra, Arithmetic, and Geometry, pretty evenly split, however no Trigonometry. The problems will go in order of increasing difficulty, like the ACT.

The best way to prepare for this section is to review math fundamentals and learn to recognize when to use certain strategies and methods.

Reading

25 questions - 20 mins

Consists of 4 reading comprehension passages followed by 10 questions each. This section is very quick as most students struggle with timing.

The best way to prepare for this is to get used to the section, especially the questions. The answer choices can be manipulative, so it's critical to go through them carefully.

Science

30 questions - 25 mins

Very similar to the ACT. This section contains very few questions about actual science - most of the questions are about data from the charts and graphs.

For this section, it's important to focus on the data they present. Usually, you don't need to read much out of the text of the passage. You don't need to study science concepts for this.
